Padel shoes: what the outsole does and what it cannot do

Stock insole versus Vibora

Outsoles

Herringbone for turf, omni for hard courts. The outsole decides how you grip the surface. It does not decide how your foot grips the shoe.

Inside the shoe

That is the insole's job. Most stock insoles do nothing here: no arch, no heel cup, nothing that stops the foot sliding forward on a brake.

Grip the court with the outsole. Grip the shoe with the insole.

Care

Air them out, do not leave them in the bag. Replace the insole every season, before the shoe.
